another slavishly devoted denton post, another day closer to the weekend...
5. performances
whether i'm reminiscing about the awkwardly romantic first date with my now-husband at a denton community theater production of "into the woods," meeting a friend at an excellent unt staging of "the importance of being earnest," or taking my sister to a sunday afternoon medieval music concert in winspear hall, it's apparent that denton is just delightfully drowned in the performing arts. some of it may not be up your alley, or down your alley, or even in your part of the metaphorical town, but i'll bet you a theoretical six dollar bill that you can find something to entertain you here.
this weekend, a group of friends and i will be attending a performance of "plaza suite," by neil simon at the campus theater. i'm looking forward to getting that live performance buzz and excitement after a long hiatus wherein i've been remiss and not attended the theater. (i have no excuse.) sure, i love films--but just as there is something special about the cinematography and general artistry that are unique to good films, so there is also a skill and artistry in making a live performance something memorable, something you feel let in on, as if it could have happened just that way only once, and you were able to be a part of it.
go on, make some denton plans of your own; soak up that culture!
Jessi girl, you make me salivate for some D-time!
